Bel V, is a subsidiary of the FANC (Federal Agency for Nuclear Control) and has since April 14th  2008 taken over the regulatory controls in nuclear installations formerly carried out by the Authorized Inspection Organization AVN. The FANC is the competent authority in the field of nuclear applications. It relies on the technical expertise of its subsidiary Bel V for carrying out inspections in nuclear power plants and other nuclear installations in Belgium (hospitals, universities, radiological installations,…).
Bel V :
• acts as expert for the safety assessments of nuclear projects
• participates actively in meetings and working groups that are organized in the framework of international organizations (EC – OECD – IAEA)
• exchanges information and experience feedback with Belgian and foreign colleagues
• contributes to the emergency plans called in for nuclear accidents.

EMUG 2015 - European MELCOR User Group

The next meeting will be co-organized by Bel V and Tractebel Engineering on 17-18 March 2015 in Brussels (Belgium). SCK•CEN will host a technical visit to the facilities in Mol on 19 March 2015.

October 27-31, 2014 – IAEA TSO Conference Beijing, China

The “International Conference on Challenges Faced by Technical and Scientific Support Organisations (TSOs) in Enhancing Nuclear Safety and Security,

Strengthening Cooperation and Improving Capabilities”  is organized by the IAEA,  hosted by the Government of China through the Chinese Nuclear and Radiation Safety Centre of the National Nuclear Safety Administration and in cooperation with the European Technical Safety Organizations Network (ETSON).

The General Manager of Bel V is Chairman of the Programme Committee and in the session on “Maintaining and strengthening TSO capabilities” Bel V will give a presentation entitled “Bridging required capabilities and training ».

Since the IAEA TSO Conference takes place end of October 2014 in Beijing, the EUROSAFE Forum 2014 will be adjourned. The EUROSAFE Forum 2015 will take place in Brussels on November 2 and 3, 2015.
